Ed Sheeran’s surprise street performance in Bangalore interrupted by police

Ed Sheeran took to the streets of southern India this weekend, surprising his fans with an impromptu live performance.

However, his performance was abruptly stopped by the local police, who claimed that he had not obtained the necessary permissions.

The British singer, who was between scheduled shows in the city of Bangalore, decided to do some busking on Church Street.

But midway through his performance of "Shape of You," a police officer approached and unplugged his guitar and microphone, much to Sheeran’s surprise and frustration.

According to the local police, Sheeran had not received authorization to perform in that area, and a local resident had reported the performance to authorities. The police stated that the area is very busy, and they try to avoid disruptions to the flow of people.

Sheeran, however, later took to social media, claiming that he had been given permission for the street performance in advance. He clarified that the performance had been planned and was not a random occurrence.

The incident quickly gained attention on social media, with many users sharing clips of Sheeran’s performance and expressing their amazement at seeing him perform live on the street.

Some people criticized the authorities, suggesting that the performance posed no significant disruption and that local authorities should focus on more pressing issues such as traffic and water shortages.

Sheeran, a well-known figure in India, had previously performed a sold-out concert in Mumbai last year and is scheduled to play two more shows in the country before heading to China and the UAE.
