Sam Asghari is well aware of the significant role Britney Spears has played in shaping his career.
The subject of the "Toxic" singer came up during Asghari’s recent guest appearance on the show hosted by Nikki and Brie Bella. While playing a game inspired by the murder mystery reality series
The Traitors, Asghari was joined by his co-stars from the show, Wells Adams and Chrishell Stause. The hosts asked Asghari if he would "banish" someone (as contestants do each week on The Traitors) for suggesting that his career success was only due to someone he had dated.
Asghari responded candidly, acknowledging the reality of having been married to one of the most famous women in the world.
He explained that he wouldn’t "banish" anyone because that was his reality. He went on to say that he had met his ex-wife on a film set, and that he couldn’t help that she was the most famous superstar on the planet, which ultimately gave him a "boost" in his career. He also pointed out that fame often comes through association, whether it’s from working on something or simply being linked to someone high-profile.
Sam and Britney first met in 2016, when he played her love interest in the "Slumber Party" music video. After dating for nearly five years — and only after her conservatorship had ended — they became engaged in 2021. The couple tied the knot in June 2022, but just over a year later, Asghari filed for divorce in August 2023.
Despite their split, Asghari has expressed nothing but love for his ex-wife. In a February interview on The Viall Files, he shared that even though their relationship ended, he was never sad about it. In fact, he expressed gratitude for the experience, emphasizing that he would always be thankful it had happened.
He also referred to her as a "genius artist" and praised her creativity, stating that what she holds in her mind is "gold," which contributed to her success and helped shape her into who she is today.
