"You're lying!" – Man holds his newborn grandson for the first time and immediately points at his daughter-in-law.

When John held his newborn son for the first time, joy filled the hospital room until his father made a shocking accusation against John's wife, Tina. Immediately, a moment that should have been one of celebration turned into distrust and pain.

The hallway outside the hospital room buzzed with excitement. John paced back and forth, rubbing his hands, his eyes darting from a closed door to the family around him.

His parents, Ron and Linda, were a few steps behind him, their eyes fixed on the door, but a subtle tension between them. Tina's parents, Annie and Mark, were sitting on the bench along the wall, talking quietly, their tired faces lit up with excitement.

"Calm down, John," Linda said with a soft smile. She reached out, tapping his arm. "You'll hold him soon."

"I know, Mom, I just... I can't believe he's finally here!" John responded, smiling. He looked around, his eyes shining with anticipation. "Tina's incredible. She's been so strong."

Ron shifted, crossing his arms as he watched his son. "We're proud of her too," he said, his tone firm but cautious. He exchanged a glance with Linda, who nodded, maintaining a neutral expression.

"Don't worry, son," Ron added with a slight frown. "Now that we're three, just be careful."

John let out a nervous laugh. "I think I know what I'm doing, Dad." He smiled at his father, though the older man's face remained unreadable.

Mark, Tina's father, let out a low chuckle from the bench. "That's right, John," he said in a warm tone. "A new life — there's nothing like it. Everything changes."

Linda nodded but didn’t smile. "It’s true. Responsibility isn’t easy, especially with a family business."

John looked at his mother, hesitating, but before he could respond, the nurse appeared, smiling.

"Ready," she said. "You can go in now, but be gentle. She’s tired." She opened the door, and everyone entered, quieting as they entered the softly lit room.

Inside, Tina was propped up against the pillows, her face pale but radiant with happiness. Her hair pulled back, she held the bundle of joy in her arms. John's face softened immediately, and he ran to her side, his eyes fixed on the baby.

"Oh, Tina," he whispered, reaching out to touch the baby’s cheek. "He's perfect." He looked at her, his eyes shining. "I don't know how you did it."

Tina laughed softly, though the exhaustion was evident in her eyes. "I had help," she murmured, smiling at him. "Here. Hold him."

She placed the baby in John's arms, and he held him for the first time, his face filled with wonder. "I... I'm so lucky," he said, barely able to get the words out.

Linda and Ron approached. "Let me hold him, John," Linda said softly, her voice sounding warmer than usual. She reached out for the baby, and her eyes softened as she held him.

"What a beautiful boy," she murmured, her face full of tenderness. "Simply wonderful."

After a few moments, she handed the baby to Tina's mother, Annie, who immediately became emotional. "Oh, dear," she said to Tina. "He's perfect. Too perfect."

Then, the grandfather took the baby. But as soon as he looked at him, his eyes widened, fixed.

"LIAR!" he suddenly shouted. Linda ran to him, looked at the baby one last time, and then threw a furious glance at her daughter-in-law.

"We're doing a DNA test. Now," she demanded.

Ron’s eyes darkened. He looked at Tina, who was watching him with a faint smile. "That little mark," he said in a cutting tone.

Tina blinked, confused. "What... what do you mean?"

Ron straightened up, holding the baby as though the little one were somehow involved. "That mark," he said now, more forcefully. "The same one the kid from Jimmy has."

Silence fell over the room. Tina’s smile faded as she stared at him. "I don't understand," she said, her voice trembling.

"You know exactly what I mean," Ron shot back, his face turning red. "Don’t pretend. The baby has the same mark as the neighbor’s kid. The one who’s always hanging around here. The one you’ve known since high school."

The whole room froze. John looked between his father and his wife, his face pale. "Dad, what are you saying?" he asked, his voice shaking.

"Look at that mark, John," Ron said in a harsh tone. "Are you telling me it's a coincidence?"

Tina shook her head, her face paling. "This is crazy," she whispered. "That mark means nothing. He's your son!"

Ron looked at her with disdain, immune to her words. "I'm not so sure. We’re doing the DNA test. Now."

Linda looked at her son, her lips pressed tight. "John, dear, this is not something we can ignore."

"Mom?" John looked between his parents, his face crumbling as he looked at Tina.

Tina’s voice was small but firm. "John, please. Tell them they’re wrong."

Despite Tina's pleas, Ron didn’t back down. He demanded the DNA test, and John, pressured by both sides, finally gave a reluctant nod.

"Tina," he said softly, unable to look her in the eye, "if we do this, we can clear everything up once and for all, right?"

Tina looked devastated. "You can’t believe this, John. After everything—"

"I need... I just need to be sure, okay?" John's voice cracked, revealing the pain and confusion he was trying to hide.

With the decision made, Ron immediately called to schedule the test. Tina was devastated, looking at John for support, but his indecisive gaze only deepened her despair.

In the following days, silence weighed heavily between John and Tina.

In the silence of their home, the wait consumed both of them, and every passing hour seemed to erode the fragile bond that still remained.

John withdrew from himself, his mind spinning, doubting everything he thought he knew. Tina’s tear-streaked face haunted him, but his father’s words rang louder, planting the seed of doubt.

Tina couldn’t understand. She walked through the house, pleading with John, her voice mixed with anger and pain. "John, please, you have to believe me. I swear, he’s your son!"

John looked away, his face clouded. "If there’s nothing to hide, then the test will clear everything up."

"You shouldn’t need a test!" she shouted, desperation clear in her voice. "I thought you knew me better than this!"

But every attempt she made to reach him seemed to push him further away. On the outside, John kept a mask of calm, but inside he was in a storm, torn between the woman he loved and the family he had always trusted.

Finally, the results arrived.

Ron ripped open the envelope with a grim look, and his eyes scanned the paper, expressionless at first. Then, slowly, a faint satisfaction crossed his face. "I was right," he said in a cold voice. He handed the paper to John, who read it with trembling hands as he absorbed the words that confirmed his father’s worst suspicions.

"No..." John whispered, his face pale. He looked at Tina, who was staring at him, mouth open, frozen in shock.

The baby wasn’t John’s.

Tina shook her head violently, approaching him. "This has to be a mistake, John! You know it has to be! I don’t understand—" She was practically pleading, clutching his arm, but John pulled away, a look of disbelief mixed with pain.

"Why, Tina?" His voice was a hoarse whisper, his face twisted in agony. "Why would you do this to us?"

Tina dropped to her knees, crying. "I didn’t... I swear, John, I didn’t do anything. I don’t know how... Please, you have to believe me!"

John shook his head, his eyes filled with tears. "The proof is there, Tina." He looked away, his face marked by betrayal.

His parents were close by, firm and unyielding, with his mother saying, "You need to go, Tina. You can’t stay here after this."

"But I love you, John! I love you more than anything!" Tina cried, her voice breaking.

Ron stepped closer, his face unrelenting. "Our family can’t carry this betrayal, Tina. You need to leave."

John’s face was a mixture of devastation and confusion, but he remained silent as his mother gently guided him away. His silence cut deeper than any words.

Tina packed her things quietly, her mind numb as she walked through the house that had once been her home. Every photo and every piece of furniture seemed to remind her of the life she had now lost.

Her parents arrived to help her, their faces tense with sadness and quiet anger. They didn’t say much, but they stayed by her side, supporting her in her silent pain.

When everything was packed, Tina took one last look at the house, her heart breaking as she imagined the life she could have had with John and the baby. She didn’t understand how everything had fallen apart. The baby slept peacefully in her arms, unaware of the storm surrounding them.

In the following months, John threw himself into his work, spending long hours at the office to avoid the empty house and the memories of his destroyed marriage. Friends tried to cheer him up, but he kept his distance, haunted by what he considered a betrayal he could never forgive.

Tina moved back in with her parents, who welcomed her with open arms. She focused on raising her son, determined to build a life for the two of them. Though the pain remained, she began to find strength in herself, slowly adjusting to life as a single mother.

However, for both of them, the scars remained as proof of a love that once was, and a trust that was forever broken.
